North Carolina’s Pamlico Sound is home to the world’s largest Red Drum. Every summer, these Bull Red Drum visit our coast by the thousands. These Old Drum are some of the most fun possible on a rod and reel. Spending an afternoon catching trophy Red Drum as the sun sets into the Pamlico Sound is one of the most enjoyable experiences I can remember. Kids especially love seeing the giant old beauties.
Adult red drum enter North Carolina’s inlets to find spawning grounds in late summer. NC’s brackish marshes are superb habitat for sub-adult redfish to grow and mature. What’s amazing is that many of the giant adults are 30 (or even 40) years or older! To that end, I take this fishing experience very seriously. I use large gear to ensure the fights aren’t detrimentally taxing on these amazing creatures. After all, the future breeding of the species is dependent on the healthy survival of these old drum. With the proper equipment, we can make sure these fish live to swim and spawn for many more years.
If you’d like to catch a Giant Redfish you can contact me online, or call me anytime at 252-542-0011. In my neck of the woods, we have limited wireless broadband coverage. The best way to reach me quickly is by telephone. I look forward to catching some Giant Pamlico Sound Red Drum with you soon!
